En lisant un message de quelqu'un qui cherchait comment au mieux utiliser un vieil ordinateur un framasoftien lui a conseille BeatrIX. J'y suis alle moi aussi et l'ai installee... que du beau!
Attention cependant les instructions d'installation sur le site sont peu loquaces et il faut imperativement proceder comme indique ci-dessous (a la lettre... instructions trouvee sur le forum de BeatrIX). Un exemple: mettre la partition swaft sur hda1 au lieu de hda2 suffit a faire rater l'installation.
Pour ceux qui ont un vieil ordinateur et l'envie de s'attaquer a Linux allez-y: vous ferez revivre un ancetre et vous vous essayerez enfin au partitionnement...

Instructions pour l'installation:
Boot with live cd
Open terminal, type:
sudo cfdisk
delete existing partitions
create 3 new primary partitions - hda1, hda2, hda3
hda1 will be the o/s (do not forget to make it bootlable)
hda2 will be swap
hda3 will be home
When doing this, for 2 use the Type option and make sure it's 82 (swap)
Write and then reboot with live cd
Open terminal, type:
sudo mkreiserfs /dev/hda1 and when it's done continue with
sudo mkreiserfs /dev/hda3
Reboot with live CD, go to menu -> Options -> Install Beatrix to hard disk
In opening window customise first the configuration, use save config file under for example myconfig
Open terminal and type sudo gedit myconfig
find the line HD_MAP and put /dev/hda3:/home in between the ' ' provided.
Save the file.
Go back to the install menu and use load config file, choose myconfig and then proceed to install.
Once installation is ***spam***, quit and reboot.
